On Saturday, Piccadilly Gardens saw hundreds gather as far-right demonstrators clashed with Stand Up to Racism groups.
Footage shows a man being violently attacked by a group, with one individual draped in an England flag.
Another individual grabbed the victim, wrestled him to the ground, and then kicked him in the head and punched him.
As the victim tried to stand, the assailant attempted another kick while someone else hurled a metal railing at him.
Several others surrounded the victim, who tried to defend himself until officers intervened.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) reported that officers arrested one man after witnessing an altercation.
Initially arrested on suspicion of breach of the peace, the man was later de-arrested when more information emerged.
Four individuals have since been arrested in connection with the incident and remain in custody for questioning. Investigations continue.
