Nintendo Direct announced for this week

A new 15-minute Nintendo Direct was confirmed, and it will solely focus on the upcoming release of the Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, Donkey Kong Bananza.

Through their official X account, Nintendo announced today that a new Nintendo Direct will take place on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. The livestream is set to start at 9:00 AM ET / 6:00 AM PT on their official YouTube channel.

Moreover, the company confirmed that the broadcast would last 15 minutes and focus solely on content for their next big release: Donkey Kong Bananza.

A deeper dive into Donkey Kong’s newest adventure

Donkey Kong Bananza was announced on April 2, 2025, and is set to launch on Nintendo’s new console on July 17, 2025. With just one month to go until its release, they’ll inevitably want to show off a deeper look at the game to hype players.

The title is a 3D platform action-adventure game set in an underground world. There, Donkey Kong must retrieve banana-shaped diamonds from a group of villainous apes called VoidCo.

As shown in the previous Nintendo Direct and the Nintendo Treehouse: Live, the beloved gorilla has been redesigned and will make his way through this underworld by smashing, throwing, and climbing just about anything.

Additionally, Pauline was accidentally shown in one of the official pictures, sending players into a spiral of crazy theories about her role in the game and the whole history of Donkey Kong. Luckily, more will be shown during the upcoming Direct.

Donkey Kong Bananza will cost $69.99 and is available for preorder now. This is the first major DK game since Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, originally released for the Wii U back in 2014, so players can expect great things from this refreshed franchise.
