Toowoomba: Wanted man fighting for life after being shot by police when he allegedly pulled a knife on officers

A wanted man is fighting for his life after being shot by police in Queensland.

The man allegedly pointed a knife at officers before being shot in the chest on Ruthvan Street in North Toowoomba at around 5pm.

He was wanted for alleged domestic violence offenses.

Two officers were slightly injured in the incident.

The officers reportedly first tried to hit the man with a taser before shooting him.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene before taking him to hospital in Toowoomba with serious injuries.

“At approximately 5pm this afternoon, a number of units from Toowoomba attended this address to locate a person known to police,” said Darling Downs Detective Inspector Scott Stahlhut.

‘Upon arrival at the address there was a disturbance and we suspect that someone at the address was armed and threatening the police.
