A Fast & Furious ride heading to Universal Studios in Hollywood will put fans in Dominic Toretto’s iconic 1970 Dodge Charger, and it will hit speeds of up to 72mph.
The Fast & Furious saga is one of Hollywood’s most unexpected successes, as the series started out as a modest Point Break rip-off that substituted surfing for street-racing.
That first movie was followed by sequels of varying quality, until the series truly found its feat with globe-trotting heist film Fast Five. Since then the movies have grossed ridiculous numbers, with a combined total of more than $7 billion at the global box office.
The franchise has also created a monumental feud, and spawned multiple spinoffs, including movie Hobbs and Shaw and animated series Fast & Furious: Spy Racers. Next up, Fast & Furious is becoming a state-of-the art rollercoaster.
Fast & Furious rollercoaster will hit speeds of up to 72mph
The ride in question is called Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, and launches at Universal Studios Hollywood sometime in 2026.
It’s the park’s first high-speed outdoor rollercoaster, and allows you to sit in Dominic Toretto’s iconic 1970 Dodge Charger. That vehicle will then hit speeds of up to 72mph, along 4,100 feet of elaborate track.
It will also feel like you are drifting like Dom, Lottie, and the rest of the F&F crew, thanks to the groundbreaking 360-degree rotation of each vehicle on the ride.
“Watching the progress of this incredible rollercoaster come to life is truly spectacular,” said Universal Studios Hollywood’s Scott Strobl at a preview of the ride, as reported by Deadline. “2026 is just around the corner and we are equally as excited as our guests to introduce such an inspiring new ride to our theme park portfolio.
“Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will be a powerful game changer for Universal Studios Hollywood that will not only transform the topography of our destination but will infuse an entirely new level of adrenaline to our already dynamic theme park. We look forward to riding it ourselves and to welcoming guests to experience it in the very near future.”
