Nigerians gave reacted to the viral video of La Garde Républicaine singing Testimony by Psquare.
In addition to brilliantly performing P-Square’s hit “Testimony (Taste the Money)”, the prestigious group also chose to honor the Nigerian music scene by covering “Mama Africa” by the group Bracket.
This double performance aroused the enthusiasm of the guests, including the Nigerian presidential couple who seemed delighted to see their musical culture thus honored on this prestigious diplomatic stage.
Beyond the purely musical aspect, this gesture by the Republican Guard illustrates France’s desire to promote cultural exchanges with Nigeria as part of strengthening bilateral relations.
By choosing to perform these two emblematic titles of Nigerian Afrobeat music, the French group was able to create a moment of sharing and rapprochement between the two countries, going beyond just political and economic issues.
