Ginny & Georgia Season 3 has one huge continuity problem nobody is talking about

Finally, Ginny & Georgia Season 3 is back on our screens. But if you think one of the characters looks a little different, you’d be right – and fans think Netflix is to blame.

It’s been two years since we last had new episodes of the binge-worthy TV show, with its debut a further two years before that. In terms of waiting around, it seems like nothing compared to Stranger Things, Squid Game, and Wednesday.

Even so, it’s objectively still a long time. Back in the good old days – though it’s still the case on mainstream channels like ABC and CBS – you could expect new seasons within the same year, sometimes stretching as far as 22 episodes per season.

But while things taking a longer time to make comes with the love of hype, there’s a downside… one you can see incredibly clearly in Ginny & Georgia Season 3.

Austin has suddenly aged years in Ginny & Georgia Season 3

The youngest member of the Miller family, Austin (played by Diesel La Torraca), is now 14 years old, whereas he was only about 11-12 the last time we saw him. This means he’s aged quite dramatically in Season 3… even though new scenes pick up the day after Season 2’s cliffhanger.

You might remember that Georgia was arrested for Tom’s murder during her wedding to Paul, ending up in prison right into Season 3. But by the end of Ginny & Georgia Season 3, all charges against Georgia are dropped. Austin takes the stand and testifies to witnessing Tom’s murder, and that ends up working in Georgia’s favor.

In a nutshell, Ginny persuades Austin to lie and say that he witnessed his abusive dad Gil kill Tom, even though that’s not actually what happened. In court, Austin says that Gil murdered Tom because Cynthia blocked his apartment application. After that, all charges against Georgia are dropped.

This means not only did Season 2 and Season 3 happen in quick succession, they happened within days of each other – and it’s tough to believe that when a little boy is now on the verge of being a grown man.

“Netflix should stop taking 2+ years between seasons because wdym these two scenes are supposed to be only a few months apart?” one fan complained on X/Twitter.

“Girl that’s the same night,” another replied, with a third weighing in, “If they’re gonna take 2 years in between seasons AT LEAST FILM IT ALL AT ONCE THEN RELEASE WHEN YOU WANT.”

A fourth suggested, “They should have at least recorded the 1st episode of the new season right after the end of the last one (they knew the season had been approved).”

As some fans have explained, Season 3 will likely have been affected by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, meaning some delay can’t have been helped. Ginny & Georgia Season 4 has already been confirmed, though no release date is currently known.

Ginny & Georgia Seasons 1-3 are available on Netflix now. For more, check out the other new series coming to Netflix this month and the TV shows dropping on streaming.
