Another series, another dose of drama for our favorite Netflix mother-daughter duo. Ginny & Georgia Season 3 really raised the stakes, but does Georgia finally get out of prison?
In case you’ve forgotten, Georgia was arrested during her first dance at her wedding to Paul for Tom’s murder. However, Gil has been blackmailing Georgia, last seen throwing her to the ground before she threatened him with a gun.
But that’s not the only issue in the binge-worthy TV show. While Georgia is in jail, Ginny finds out she is pregnant midway through Season 3, and chooses to have an abortion.
While all this is going on, you might be wondering if Georgia has managed to get out of prison at all. Not only does Season 3 have an answer, but it also sets up what’s to come in the already-confirmed Ginny & Georgia Season 4.
Does Georgia get out of prison in Ginny & Georgia Season 3?
Yes! By the end of Ginny & Georgia Season 3, all charges against Georgia are dropped. Austin takes the stand and testifies to witnessing Tom’s murder, and that ends up working in Georgia’s favor.
In a nutshell, Ginny persuades Austin to lie and say that he witnessed his abusive dad Gil kill Tom, even though that’s not actually what happened. In court, Austin says that Gil murdered Tom because Cynthia blocked his apartment application. After that, all charges against Georgia are dropped.
“Georgia probably coached him with that,” actress Brianne Howey told Netflix. “But when her youngest confirms he saw the murder, her heart sinks. She’s thinking, ‘Oh my God, is my own son about to sell me out?’”
“It’s an out-of-body moment,” she continues. “Georgia was fully resigned to the fact she was going away, so this completely rips the rug out from under her.”
But Georgia’s story takes a completely different turn by the final episode of Season 3 – she’s pregnant. In the very last moments, Ginny spots Georgia drinking milk and realizes that it’s a craving Georgia gets when she’s pregnant. She points this out to Georgia, and they both look shocked.
“I’m gonna just say this, she’s single at the end of this season. I’m not saying one way or the other what’s coming down the pipe, throwing that out there. Single as a Pringle,” creator Sarah Lampert told Deadline.
“But what I love about each of the guys who play Georgia’s love interests, Georgia is such a dynamic character that they all can bring a different, very real element that makes you really feel depending on the moment or the scene or where she’s at. ‘Oh, that’s the right person.’ And it shifts depending on where she’s at and what she needs in that moment.”
What does Georgia’s ending mean for Season 4?
Thankfully, Ginny & Georgia Season 4 is already confirmed. We’ve got a bunch of things to figure out, namely who is the father of Georgia’s baby, and where her relationship with Ginny goes from here.
While we don’t yet know for sure who the father is, Paul and Joe are our obvious contenders.
“Here’s what I’ll say about that, I know whose baby she’s carrying, but I went into the writer’s room this season and I said, ‘Here’s who the daddy is. Change my mind,’” Lampert continued to Deadline. “So it’s live wire in there. I’m telling you right now, I am open to being convinced otherwise.”
Lampert also told Netflix the official theme for Season 4 is “Cycles and Origins,” though there’s no clear explanation for what that actually means.
“We thought the biggest consequences are how her children are changed through the process [of Georgia’s trial],” fellow showrunner Sarah Glinski told Netflix. “The burden she leaves on Austin and Ginny at the end of Season 3 is what we’ll have to deal with in Season 4.”
“Sarah [Lampert] has some incredible things planned, and I can’t wait to see more about the circumstances that shaped Georgia,” Howey added. We’re going to need that therapist.”
