A tragic road accident occurred when a motorcycle collided with a parked pickup truck, resulting in the motorcyclist’s death. The incident took place early this morning on the Pathum Thani-Bang Pahan Road, outside a timber shop in Chiang Rak Yai, Sam Khok district, Pathum Thani province.

Police officer Chanikan Sateanchaiyakit, from the Sam Khok Police Station, received the report around 2am, today, November 5, and promptly arrived at the scene alongside forensic experts from the Ministry of Justice and the Ruamkatanyu Foundation.

Upon arrival, police discovered the body of 55 year old Trairak Somthai, lying lifeless in the middle of the road. The victim, a local of Pathum Thani, was found approximately 20 metres away from his Yamaha motorcycle, which was lying on its side with significant damage to the front wheel.

Nearby, a Toyota pickup truck with Saraburi registration plates was parked on the shoulder of the road. The right rear of the truck showed collision damage, with a broken taillight and bloodstains on the front bonnet, reported KhaoSod.

Sumalee Tinrat, the 61 year old owner of the timber shop, explained that it was the truck’s first day being parked at that location. The vehicle had been used to transport wood the previous evening, and due to worker fatigue, it was left outside instead of being moved into the shop, said Sumalee.

“I never imagined a vehicle would crash into it like this.”.

Officer Chanikan conducted a thorough examination of the site and documented the scene with photographs as evidence. Following the initial investigation, the body was handed over to the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, which transported it to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for further examination and confirmation of details.
