The Kenya Meteorological Department has listed several areas to receive rainfall in the next one week.
According to the weather advisory issued on Monday, November 4, 2024, rainfall is expected over a few places from November 5, 2024, to November 11.
The weatherman has advised Kenyans to expect some rainfall over the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands, the Coast and North-eastern Kenya.
“Rainfall is expected in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands, the Coast and North-eastern Kenya during the first half of the forecast period. Isolated storms may occur over some parts of these regions,” Kenya Met stated.
However, the second half of the forecast period is likely to be generally sunny and dry.
The counties in the forecast include Kisii, Nyamira, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Busia, Migori, Narok, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet and
West-Pokot.
Nairobi and other counties in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley region such as Nyandarua, Laikipia,
Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu and Tharaka-Nithi will receive morning rains as well as afternoon and night showers over a few places during the first half of the forecast period.
Counties in the Coast (Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties as well as the coastal parts of TanaRiver County), North-eastern Kenya (Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo Counties), the South-eastern lowlands (Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado and Taita-Taveta Counties as well as the inland parts of Tana-River County) will experience the similar weather pattern to that of the regions in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley.
Sunny and cloudy weather
In the seven-day weather forecast, the Kenya Met has also listed several regions that will remain sunny during the day with partly cloudy night conditions for the next week.
“In the North-western Kenya (Turkana and Samburu Counties), sunny intervals are expected during the day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy. However, morning rains and afternoon and night showers and thunderstorms may occur,” the advisory reads in part.
Temperatures
The forecast has also captured the temperatures that will be experienced in different parts of the country.
“Average daytime (maximum) temperatures of more than 30°C will be experienced in several parts of the country including Northeastern and North-western Kenya,” the weatherman added.
“Average night-time (minimum) temperatures will be less than 10°C over some parts of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley and the Central Rift Valley,” Kenya Met stated.
