Aussie swimmer Emily Seebohm reveals who the biggest ‘root rats’ are in the Olympic village as she dishes on the raunchy antics: ‘It’s like Tinder!’

Emily Seebohm has revealed what goes on behind the scenes at the Olympic Games.

During an interview about missing the 2024 Olympics in Paris, the 32-year-old Australian swimmer also named who the biggest “root rats” are and described the racy antics that often take place in the Olympic village.

Her comments came after “anti-sex beds” in Paris caused an uproar after the International Olympic Committee banned intimacy at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

Although the ban was lifted this year, athletes were given single cardboard beds. Rumors circulated that this was an attempt to discourage sexual activity, but organizers denied this.

Seebohm joked that the Olympic Village is “like Tinder.”

“No joke, it’s like Tinder,” she joked while speaking about the 2024 Olympic Games on Robin & Kip on KIIS 97.3 on Wednesday morning.

When asked who the biggest “root rats” are, Seebohm continued, “Oh, God. Um, that’s really hard. When you go into competition later, you know, you have a small window to enjoy that.

“Whereas if you’re in day one or day two and that’s it, then it’s over. So you can keep going for a while. I don’t know.”

Presenters Robin Bailey and Kip Wightman then joked that the swimmers are “clearly” the hottest swimmers, as the finals have already taken place at the 2024 Games.

Kaylee McKeown won a landslide gold in the women’s 100m backstroke, while Australia also took bronze in the men’s 4x200m freestyle relay.

Seebohm insisted she never got involved in the racy antics in the village because she has been in a long-term relationship with Ryan Gallagher.

The four-time Olympian also spoke about her disappointment at missing out on the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris after missing the qualifying events, just months after she gave birth to her son Sampson in September.

She was devastated when she failed to qualify for the women’s backstroke final at the Australian Qualifying Events in Paris in 2024.

Seebohm, who made her Olympic debut at age 16 at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, joked that she would give up her partner Ryan if it meant she could return to the Olympics.

When asked if she would have given anything to be there, she replied: ‘Oh, absolutely. I probably wouldn’t give up my son, but maybe my partner. [Ryan Gallagher].

But she insisted she still enjoyed watching McKeown’s incredible victory on screen, adding: ‘IIt was just surreal to watch. Kaylee did a fantastic job holding off the Americans and giving the Aussies the win.’

Seebohmn also expressed her displeasure this week on X – formerly known as Twitter – about missing out on her chance at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

“I would love to be in Paris right now. Swimming myself, watching or commentating, but the best thing is that I am okay with not being there,” she confessed.

Eight months after giving birth, Seebohm failed to become the first Australian swimmer to be selected for the Olympic Games five times, failing to qualify in the 100 and 200-meter backstroke.

Seebohm has won three gold, three silver and one bronze medal in her four Olympic Games, a huge achievement.

Before the trials, Seebohm said she wanted to make her Olympic comeback to inspire other mothers and her son Sampson, as she spoke about getting her dreams back.

“I’ve had moms reach out to me saying how inspiring this is,” she shared. “When I was pregnant, I felt like I lost the athlete that I was.

‘Here I try to get that back and show other women that it is possible to have children and realize your dreams.’

“I’m doing this for myself and to prove to Sampson that if you have a dream, don’t let anyone tell you you can’t make it happen,” she continued.

“A lot of people doubted my comeback. I breastfed for eight months, worked out, pumped, went to the gym, and made it to Sampson’s classes. It was tough, but doable.”

Robin & Kip can be heard from 5:30am to 9am on KIIS 97.3 in Brisbane or via the iHeartRadio app.
