I Cleared You To Come Back To Kenya- Oscar Sudi Corners Miguna Over Protests

Sudi accused Miguna of achieving absolutely nothing ever since his return and instead throwing vitriol at the slightest opportunity.

Kapseret Member of Parliament (MP) Oscar Sudi has claimed that he played a vital role in ensuring that lawyer Miguna Miguna returned to Kenya in October 2022, having been in exile for almost five years.

Speaking on Monday, January 29 in a video he shared on his social media accounts, Sudi accused Miguna of achieving absolutely nothing ever since his return and instead throwing vitriol at the slightest opportunity.

Saying that it was Miguna’s right for him to come back to Kenya, the lawmaker deduced that his brash character had given the previous administration a hard time, thus delaying his prompt return to the country.

“You have done all this work but you are nothing because you are empty. The other day I was the one who cleared you to come to Kenya, I cleared you because was your right.

“I didn’t clear you because I was doing you a favour; that was your right. We sat with you for two to three hours, I knew you were a mediocre person and I understood why even Raila Odinga and Uhuru had issues with you because you are empty…talking too much English but empty space in that English mentality. You’re just a letdown as a parent,” Sudi hit out.

Miguna was deported on February 6, 2018, days after administering an oath during Raila Odinga’s mock swearing-in at Uhuru Park. This opened a string of woes in his efforts to return to the country which led to a legal battle between him and the state.

Before his eventual return, his first attempt at returning to Kenya was halted in March 2018 after he was denied entry upon landing at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

His second attempt in January 2020 failed after he was denied boarding rights to travel back to the country upon reaching Germany. At the time, Miguna raised an alarm over a red alert issued by the government.

In 2021, he complained about the red alerts that were still in place which prevented his return to the country, with the government alleged to have issued instructions to global airlines not to let him fly back to Kenya.

Meanwhile, Sudi also accused Miguna of allegedly inciting Gen Z youth in Kenya to anti-government protests, stating “It’s a sheer contradiction that Miguna Miguna, the self-proclaimed barrister, is passionately inciting our children to unleash mayhem. This is uncouth in our modern Kenya.”

The UDA MP, even though he expressed support for the Gen Z movement, accused Miguna and activist Boniface Mwangi of hijacking the movement to cause chaos.

“We agreed on this Gen Z issue when it started, it was very good, even I supported it because I knew these young people had started to understand themselves, they know where they are, and where they want to go.

“But now, troublemakers like Boniface Mwangi and Miguna Miguna have come in wanting our country to burn and people be destroyed,” he claimed.

Miguna in a response accused Sudi of looting public money and being the face of impunity, saying “Mr. Hon Oscar Sudi we are coming for you. Keep trembling”.
