Coco Gauff reveals why her entire team LEFT the Olympic Village for a hotel

Coco Gauff revealed that she is the only member of the US women’s tennis team still in the Olympic Village after her teammates fled to a hotel.

The 20-year-old posted a candid TikTok video on Saturday exposing the conditions the athletes are subjected to, including 10 women sharing just two bathrooms.

The chaotic clip showed several members of Team USA doing their hair, makeup and outfits in preparation for the first day of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

“10 girls, two bathrooms #olympicvillage,” she captioned the post, which generated a lot of comments about how cramped the space seemed.

“I moved to a hotel,” one fan wrote under the clip, to which she responded, “All the tennis girls moved to a hotel except me. So now there’s only 5 girls with two bathrooms.”

However, Gauff said she is enjoying the village, which will host thousands of participants from all over the world for the next two weeks.

“Well, it’s only 5 girls now, so I have the room to myself. The roommates are very relaxed. I love it,” she explained.

Another fan was concerned about her comfort after it was revealed the athletes would be sleeping on cardboard beds.

“The archery team lent me a mattress topper,” she wrote.

The announcement follows outrage after the Australian Olympic Committee angered swimmers by telling them they would only be allowed to stay in the village for 48 hours after their event, after which they would have to fly home or find their own accommodation in Paris.

Meanwhile, Australian water polo player Tilly Kearns and her teammate Gabi Palm have publicly dragged the cardboard bed frames away from the village.

“I’ve already had a massage to undo the damage,” Kearns groaned via social media, as Palm chimed in. “My back is about to fall off.”

Daniel Smith, director of the Team USA Olympic Village, said earlier: told people that athletes can choose for themselves whether they want to stay in the Village.

Many famous athletes, including LeBron James and Stephen Curry of the basketball team, stay elsewhere in luxury accommodations.

“If a sport decides not to stay in the sport, [the village]“They have to make their own arrangements for where they’re going to stay and draw up their own hotel contracts,” Smith said earlier this week.

“One challenge is that at that point you are actually outside the bubble and Paris 2024 does not arrange transportation from your specific hotel,” he added.

‘All meals, all extras that athletes get in the village, that you don’t take with you, are on your own account.’

It comes a day after Gauff stood alongside LeBron James as one of two American flag bearers during the opening ceremony.

“I never imagined I would have the honor of carrying the American flag for Team USA during the Opening Ceremony,” the Grand Slam winner said in a statement.

“I’m extremely proud to be able to lead my teammates alongside LeBron and demonstrate our dedication and passion on the biggest stage there is.”
