Pastor Elias Njeru of the controversial JCM Church has surrendered to the police in Nakuru. The pastor turned himself in early Monday, November 25, 2024 accompanied by his lawyer from Gakuhi Chege and Associates Advocates.

He was re-arrested upon arrival and is currently in custody at Nakuru Police Station. Authorities plan to transfer him to Menengai Police Station, where the case was first reported.

The attack left his wife, Florence Wanjiku Gichohi, hospitalized with severe injuries. From her hospital bed at Optimum Hospital, she narrated the harrowing events. She revealed that she had met Njeru earlier at an entertainment venue to discuss personal and business matters. Their conversation appeared smooth, and she returned home afterward. However, Njeru followed her.

When she arrived at her gate, he allegedly pulled her from her car and launched a vicious attack. Florence said he stabbed her 18 times during the assault. In her desperate attempts to defend herself, she lost several fingers as she tried to shield herself from the knife.

Adding to the trauma, Florence disclosed that Njeru later appeared at the hospital and demanded to see her, perhaps to finish what he had started. But luckily, security personnel denied him access.

Florence is a mother of two, the youngest being a 2-year-old child she shares with Njeru. The couple worked together in the property business. So, what went wrong—love gone sour or business disagreements?

The brutal nature of the attack has drawn widespread condemnation from the public. Women leaders and human rights groups have expressed outrage, demanding swift justice.
