‘As our son, we are proud of you’ – Gachagua tells ex-CS Ndung’u

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has heaped praises on former Treasury Cabinet Secretary (CS) Njuguna Ndung’u for his impeccable performance during his stint in the ministry.

Speaking during the funeral of Susan Wanjohi, mother of the secretary to Cabinet, Mercy Wanjau in Nyandarua, Laikipia County on Friday, July 26, 2024, Gachagua urged the former CS to walk with his head high because he did an excellent job at the ministry.

He lauded Ndung’u for all the long working hours he took to achieve commendable results in the position.

The second in command added that the community is proud of the ex-CS for his exemplary performance and achievement.

He urged Ndung’u to stand tall as he handed over to the new nominee and acknowledge his efforts in the ministry.

“I want to thank you Professor Njuguna Ndung’u for your very outstanding performance at the National Treasury. We are very proud of you as our son in this region; We know where you found our economy and your stewardship of the National Treasury.

“As you hand over to the new nominee, walk with your head tall, you worked hard for late hours….came to the cabinet to present clear and concrete proposals. As our son, we are very proud of your performance and achievement. We wish you well,” Gachagua said.

Ndung’u was among the CSs sent packing after President William Ruto dissolved his cabinet on Friday, July 11, 2024.

At the time, the president retained Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi, assuring Kenyans that he would be forming a broad-based cabinet.
