Lamu Water and Sewerage Company (LAWASCO) is a wholly-owned Water Service Provider (WSP) under the County Government of Lamu. LAWASCO is mandated to provide quality water and sewerage services to the residents of Lamu Island and its environs.
In line with Article 174 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, and the WASREB Corporate Governance Standard Guidelines 2024, the County Government of Lamu, in collaboration with LAWASCO, seeks to recruit stakeholders to serve on the Board of Directors.
Stakeholder Representation
LAWASCO invites applications from eligible individuals residing within the company’s area of operation to represent the following stakeholder groups on the Board:
- One local professional nominated by their professional body.
- One member from different Resident Organizations.
- One representative from Domestic Consumers.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for appointment, applicants must meet the following requirements:
a. Hold a degree or diploma or its equivalent from a recognized institution in Kenya.
b. Possess a minimum of seven (7) years of working experience in senior positions.
c. Be a resident within the area served by LAWASCO.
d. Be nominated by a registered body representing the stakeholder group.
e. Comply with Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, on Leadership and Integrity, and meet the Fit and Proper Test criteria set by the Water Services Regulatory Board (WASREB).
Remuneration and Allowances
Board members will receive allowances as determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).
Application Guidelines
Applicants must fill out the National Corporate Governance Standards Fit and Proper Test Form (Annex 2 of the WASREB Corporate Governance Standards 2024).
Submit your application in a sealed envelope clearly marked with the position applied for. The application package should include:
- A detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV).
- Certified copies of academic and professional certificates.
- A copy of your National Identity Card.
- A nomination letter from your respective stakeholder body.
- Any other relevant supporting documents.
Deliver your application to the LAWASCO Head Office no later than:
Friday, 29th November 2024, by 2:00 PM.
