Musician Peter Mwangi, popularly known as Miracle Baby, has confirmed the end of his relationship with vernacular artiste and digital content creator Carol Katrue.
The announcement, made late Friday night, came as a surprise to fans who had followed their tumultuous yet enduring journey together.
In separate social media posts, the former couple made their split public. Miracle Baby clarified that he is no longer affiliated with Katrue professionally or personally.
“For anyone who was calling me to book for Carol Katrue we are no longer together!!! Thank You,” Miracle Baby wrote on Instagram.
Similarly, Katrue declared her single status, urging those interested in her work to contact her directly.
“Single!!! For bookings dm me kindly am not working with anyone or under anyone,” she posted.
Shocking turn of events
The breakup shocked fans, particularly given the hurdles the couple had overcome together.
Katrue had been a steadfast partner to Miracle Baby during his battle with a life-threatening stomach condition earlier this year.
Miracle Baby was in and out of hospitals between January and March due to the stomach condition.
The musician was first hospitalized on January 16, 2024, after his intestines ruptured.
He underwent at least four surgeries to fix the condition.
Katrue rallied Kenyans to contribute towards his medical bills, which had soared into millions of shillings.
Their separation now, after navigating what many viewed as their toughest chapter, has left fans puzzled.
3-year journey
Miracle Baby and Katrue had been together for at least three years.
The couple shares one child, born on February 18, 2023. However, Miracle Baby has four other children with different women.
Before their breakup, Katrue had expressed her willingness to have more children with the musician to help him fulfil his dream of fathering at least 17 children.
“Ntakuzalia mpaka washangae @petermiraclebaby,” Katrue wrote in a June 2023 Instagram post.
Miracle Baby’s vision of a large family
Miracle Baby’s aspiration to have 17 children has been a recurring theme in his public interviews.
In an October 2020 interview on Mambo Mseto with Mzazi Willy M Tuva, Miracle Baby revealed his ambitious plan to father 17 children.
At the time, the former Gengetone musician disclosed that he had four children with different women.
Miracle Baby disclosed that one of his kids was abandoned at his doorstep in a basin and that he had to take care of it because he suspected it was his as the toddler resembled him.
“Nko na watoto wanne but mmoja nilimpata hapa nje kejani kwangu akiwa ametupwa. Alikua ametupwa hapa nje na karai so nikahave kumchukua. Nampenda tu kama mtoto wangu but kuna venye tunafanana, sijui kama kuna place nilienda na siambiwi,” Miracle Baby said.
“Watoi ni wanne, different mothers hapo hivyo na nawapenda wote,” he added.
When he was asked why he couldn’t just settle with one woman, Miracle Baby explained that his plan was to have 17 children and that one woman couldn’t possibly give him all the kids he wanted.
“Wewe ni mdogo sana bado kwa nini uwe na mabibi au madem wanne? Kwa nini usisettle na mmoja?” Mzazi asked.
“Sahi ni ngori coz natakanga watoi 17 ama 16. Hakuna mwenye anakubali ati alete wote duniani wakiwa wote,” he said.
