‘Huyu mama simuachi’ – Ruto promises to walk with Aisha Jumwa after firing her from Cabinet

President William Ruto has promised to reward former Gender and Culture Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa days after firing her from his Cabinet.

Speaking in Watamu town, Kilifi North Constituency in Kilifi County during his tour of Mombasa and Kilifi counties on Friday, July 26, 2024, President Ruto said he will walk with Jumwa.

Ruto on his relationship with Jumwa

Ruto while addressing Watamu residents said Jumwa is his friend whom he will walk along with, despite the recent Cabinet changes.

Huyu Aisha Jumwa ni mama wa Nguvu. Aisha ni rafiki wangu sana. Huyu mama simuachi. Nawahakikishia nyinyi watu wa hapa Kilifi kuwa nitatembea na huyu mama,” Ruto said.

Jumwa who was granted the microphone moments after Ruto’s remarks thanked the Head of State for giving her the opportunity to serve as a Cabinet Secretary in his government.

Jumwa on Joho’s CS nomination

She went ahead to thank President Ruto for nominating Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Deputy Party Leader and former Mombasa governor Hassan Joho to the Ministry of Mining and Blue Economy, and former Kilifi governor Salim Mvurya to Investments, Trade and Industry docket.

The former Malindi Member of Parliament stated that she was comfortable with the Joho and Mvurya’s appointments despite missing out.

Nataka nimshukuru Rais kwa kunipa nafasi nikawa waziri katika serikali yake. Nataka pia nimshukuru Rais kwa hatua aliyoichukua kuiweka nchi mbele, na nimshukuru pia kwa kuwapa ndugu zangu wawili nafasi, Joho na Mvurya. Hapo mimi niko sawa,” Jumwa stated.

Jumwa was on Saturday, July 20, 2024, booed while addressing residents of Kilifi County after she hinted at a cabinet comeback, following her dismissal on July 11, 2024.

She received hostile feedback from her audience after stating that she was at peace with President Ruto’s decision to relieve her of her duties and stating that she was open to making a comeback if called upon.

Ruto’s confidence in Joho, Mvurya

Speaking in Mombasa when he kicked off the second day of his tour of the coast region, Ruto said he has faith in Joho and Mvurya.

The First in Command expressed his confidence in the two former governors, saying that they would deliver in their ministries.

The President said that Mvurya previously managed the Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs ministry well.

The Head of State noted that Mvurya’s new responsibilities will include creating jobs for the youth.

“I have faith in these two gentlemen from the Coast. Salim Mvurya managed the Blue Economy sector with great skill, I understand and I know that Joho will do that.

“I have also tasked Mvurya with the responsibility of being in charge of the Investments, Trade and Industry docket. His duty is to make sure Dongo Kundu Special Economic Zone is operational and create jobs for our youth,” Ruto said.
