Nigerian writer and life coach Solomon Buchi is sparking conversations about consumerism after responding to reactions around Mr Macaroni’s trending perfume collection video.
In a now-viral clip, Buchi addressed the wave of “God when?” comments that followed Macaroni’s post, warning against the culture of glorifying excessive luxury.
“This is not cute… We’re promoting a culture of unrealistic materialism,” he said.
“Nobody needs 40 perfumes, 40 sneakers, or 40 shoes — nobody.”
While he didn’t take direct shots at celebrities, Buchi stressed how this kind of content affects young people who end up comparing their lives with exaggerated online standards.
“You’re not broke — you just don’t need what you want to buy,” he added.
“Consumerism is becoming the god of our time, and it’s killing us slowly.”
Buchi encouraged viewers to rethink what truly matters and reminded them that worth isn’t measured by stuff.
“You don’t need it. You’re doing well.”
