3 counties to be affected by blackout on Friday

Kenya Power has announced a temporary blackout expected to affect parts of Kisii, Migori, and Nyeri counties on Friday, July 26, 2024.

In a statement shared on Thursday, July 25, the utility company cited routine network maintenance as the reason for the temporary outage.

In Kisii County, the blackout will affect the Nyanchwa area and Kisii Stadium from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Specific locations impacted include Botori SDA, Nyanchwa Police Station, Nyanchwa Estate, Nyanchwa Complex, Kisii Treasury, Kisii Stadium, and adjacent customers.

In Migori County, the areas affected include part of Awendo Town and Rinya, with the outage scheduled from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Affected locations are Rinya Center, Manyatta Secondary, parts of Awendo Town, Awendo Shell, Awendo Sub County Hospital, Siany, Aorojope, Awendo Water Company, Vuma Factory, Saka, parts of Mariwa, and adjacent customers.

Nyeri County will experience blackouts in Wamagana from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The affected areas include Wamagana, Uithirandu, Wamagana Booster, Wamagana Constituency Offices, Stainer Academy, Kwa Joseph, and adjacent customers.

Additionally, the Kiamabara and Gathugu areas will experience outages from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting locations such as Kirigu C/Fact, Gatina, Gakuyu Secondary School, Gatina Village, Mukangu Dispensary, Mukangu C/Fact, Karembu Village, Matira-Ini Village, Mungetho, Ihiga Village, Kieni C/Factory, Kiamabara, Kagumo-Ini C/Fact, Gathugu C/Fact, Gathugu, Mt. Carmel Secondary School, Munengere Village, Gaturiri C/Fact, Kahara Village, Karogoto, Ngunguru Secondary School, Kahiga Village, Kiambachi Village, Ngunguru C/Fact, Ngurumo Dispensary, Maingirano Village, Thamaru Village, and Safaricom and Airtel Boosters.
