Beachgoers at Pattaya’s serene Wong Amat Beach were met with a chilling discovery early this morning – the body of a foreign man, draped in jewellery, floating just metres from the shore.
Police Lieutenant Akkarapong Saenputawong, Deputy Inspector (Investigation) at Pattaya City Police Station, received the call at 7.30am, today, November 22, prompting an immediate response from both police and the Sawang Boriboon Foundation Rescue Unit.
Arriving on the scene, police found the man’s body face down in the water, just 2 metres from the beach, wearing only a pair of black swimming trunks and several pieces of jewellery – a necklace, watch, and ring. With no identification documents or immediate clues about his nationality, police estimate the man to be between 50 and 60 years old. A witness this morning made the chilling discovery.
“While walking along the beach this morning, we saw the man’s body face down in the seawater and immediately called the police.”
The rescue team carefully retrieved the body and brought it ashore, where investigators conducted a preliminary examination. Pol. Lt. Akkarapong reported no visible signs of struggle or assault on the body, which had likely been deceased for over two hours. Initial assessments suggest drowning, though police remain cautious, treating the incident as a potential mystery due to the man’s unusual appearance and lack of identification.
The body has been sent to the Police General Hospital’s Forensic Institute for a full autopsy to determine the official cause of death. Police also continue efforts to identify the man, piecing together any details that might uncover who he was and what led him to this tragic end, reported Amarin TV.
In related news, a mysterious corpse was discovered floating in the sea near Bang Saray, sparking an urgent investigation into the cause of death, which remains unclear whether it resulted from murder or accident. The deceased, unidentified and of a large build, was found with a tattoo reading HOPE CLUB on the left wrist.
