President William Ruto has appointed Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi as the acting Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Interior and National Administration.
The announcement was made through an official gazette notice dated Thursday, October 31, 2024, with the new assignment taking effect immediately.
Mudavadi, who also serves as the CS for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, will temporarily oversee the Interior Ministry’s crucial operations, responsible for ensuring national security, overseeing police reforms, managing regional administration, and handling other aspects of public administration.
“Pursuant to Article 152 (5)(a) of the Constitution, Hon. Wycliffe Musalia Mudavadi, E.G.H., Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, is assigned as the Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Interior and National Administration. Acting Dated the 31st October 2024,” the gazette notice read.
His appointment follows the upcoming swearing-in of Kithure Kindiki as Deputy President, who previously held the position.
According to the notice, Mudavadi’s appointment aligns with Article 152 (5)(a) of the Constitution, which allows for such reassignments within the Cabinet to ensure continuity in leadership and seamless management of critical government functions.
