FCTA seals PDP secretariat over unpaid ground rent

Officials from the Federal Capital Territory Administration have sealed the National Headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The officials arrived the Wadata Plaza where the PDP’s national secretariat is located in Wuse Zone 5, Abuja and sealed it at about 2.05pm.

This action follows the FCTA’s recent announcement on Sunday, stating its intention to reclaim properties affected by the revocation of 4,794 land titles due to non-payment of ground rent spanning 10 to 43 years.

Recall that in March this year, list of land titles in default of payment of Ground Rent was compiled and sent out by the FCTA. The agency, however, gave a 21-day grace to defaulters to make payment. Following the expiration of the grace given, the agency this morning began the sealing of erring structures which includes the structure accomodating the PDP secretariat.

Many have accused the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, of enlisting the PDP structure for revocation because of his lingering battle with members of the party.
