‘Serikali iko imara, lazima tusonge mbele’ – Didmus Barasa says as ODM gets slots in Ruto’s cabinet

Kimilili Member of Parliament (MP) Didmus Barasa is confident in the country’s progress and urged citizens to support the government’s efforts after President William Ruto nominated key opposition leaders to his cabinet.

In a statement shared on his X account on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, Barasa criticized Gen Z for their impatience and unwillingness to engage in dialogue on national issues.

He said that Gen Zs consistently claimed to be leaderless, partyless, and tribeless when invited for discussions or asked to present a team.

“As the de facto leader of Real Gen Z, I asked everyone to calm down and give the government time to implement changes; I was called names! When President William Ruto asked Gen Z to forward a team for dialogue, they said, ‘We are leaderless, partyless, and tribeless’,” Barasa stated.

Barasa asserted that they have now started labelling opposition leader Raila Odinga as a traitor for embracing dialogue with Ruto, clearly calling for their surrender amid ongoing anti-government protests.

“When Raila Odinga asked Gen Z to embrace dialogue, they said, ‘We are leaderless, partyless, and tribeless’. Now that Raila has embraced dialogue with the President, they are screaming ‘Baba has betrayed us’. Bwana serikali iko imara! Na lazima tusonge mbele,” Barasa stated.
