Former Director of the Press Service at the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary (OPCS) Musalia Mudavadi, Salim Swaleh now wants Kenyan employers to consider him when offering job opportunities.
Swaleh on Tuesday, November 19 took to X to share a short clip of the suits he used to don while in formal employment, close to three months after he went viral when he shared a clip of him in tears while appealing to Kenyans for help.
He reckoned that he missed the feeling of putting on suits and getting up early to go to the office every morning, even though the presence of remote work has offered Kenyans an alternative method of getting work done without having to leave the house.
“I miss putting on my suits and reporting to work every morning. Please offer me a job,” the former NTV Swahili anchor wrote, further tagging accounts of top mainstream media houses and that of the State House.

Swaleh was appointed to the role on January 11, 2023, after being previously nominated for the position of Information and Communications Technology, ICT, e-Government and Public Communication chief officer at the Nakuru County government. He joined NTV after he resigned from Royal Media Services’ (RMS) Citizen TV in 2018.
On June 22, 2024, in shocking circumstances, Swaleh was arrested alongside high-ranking government officials linked to alleged involvement in corruption activities.
The Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs (PCS-MFDA) confirmed the arrest on June 23, stating “Those arrested include Salim Swaleh, Director of OPCS Press Service, in whose office the swindlers were found nested with fake door switch-nametags.”
The arrests followed a tipoff that alerted OPCS-MFDA security, who then mounted intense surveillance at the OPCS-MFDA Railways Office to disrupt the reported nefarious acts of impersonation and misuse of the facility by the fraudsters.
The surveillance involved tracking a group masquerading as visitors, who would individually gain entrance into the Railways Building on different dates and times by falsifying their identities (as VIP guests or Government Officers), and the officers they purported to be visiting.
Swaleh and his co-accused were later released on bail after they were charged with conspiring to defraud a consultancy company of Ksh5.8 million, with the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Renson Ingonga, approving the fraud charges but later calling for a review of the case.
The suspects failed to take pleas after the DPP’s action and the court gave the DPP until September 12 to conclude the review.
The journalist has since expressed remorse and financial distress since his salary was halted, complicating his legal battles and personal circumstances.
