Job Title: Finance Officer – Partnerships

Location: Nairobi, with frequent travel to field offices within Kenya
Contract Duration: One-year contract with possibility of extension, subject to funding and performance

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian organization founded in 1956, operating in over 35 countries globally. In Kenya, DRC is a key player in protection efforts for refugees and host communities, focusing on protection monitoring, child protection, GBV prevention, economic recovery, and peace-building activities.

Overall Purpose of the Role:
The Finance Officer – Partnerships will support the Dadaab office in managing ABLIG Project functions, including partner mapping, due diligence, financial oversight, and capacity building.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Accounting/Finance/Internal Control:
    • Perform Month-End Closure (MEC) processes in DRC Dynamics.
    • Review and process payments ensuring compliance with IDRA, budget lines, and donor regulations.
    • Maintain proper documentation and archiving in DRC Dynamics and SharePoint.
  2. Partners Financial Management:
    • Oversight of partner financials and expenditure against project milestones.
    • Conduct monitoring visits and liaise with partners for financial reporting.
    • Ensure compliance with financial documentation and reporting standards.
  3. Compliance & Reporting:
    • Support in audits and expenditure verification exercises.
    • Facilitate auditor meetings and provide necessary documentation.
  4. Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in business management or Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting Option).
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in financial management with an international NGO, including partner financial oversight.
    • CPA Part II qualification preferred.
    • Experience with ERP Dynamics and advanced proficiency in Excel.
  5. Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Excellent communication skills in English; Swahili proficiency desirable.
    • Familiarity with donor regulations and financial compliance.
