Donald Kipkorir cautions CS nominee Eric Muuga against extravagance

Popular Kenyan legal master Donald Kipkorir has recently raised a crucial alarm directed at the newly nominated Cabinet Secretary (CS) Eric Muuga.

As seen through his X account on July 22, 2024, Kipkorir noted that as an engineer, Muuga has lived a modest life for the past eight years, and he further advised the incoming CS to avoid taking up a lavish lifestyle post-appointment.

Kipkorir issued a stark warning to CS Nominee, urging him to steer clear of displaying wealth within a short period after he assumes office.

Humble beginning

According to the city lawyer, he observed Muuga’s humble beginnings and the circumstances of his family, expressing a hope that Muuga would maintain integrity and ethical standards with the newfound authority and status.

In a society where public officials’ conduct is under constant scrutiny, Kipkorir reminded Muuga of the responsibilities that come with holding a position of power and influence.

In his observation, Kipkorir cautioned the nominated to become Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation, against the rapid acquisition of luxurious assets such as high-end properties in affluent areas like Karen and extravagant homes in his hometown.

The legal luminary emphasized the importance of maintaining financial modesty and ethical conduct, urging Mugaa to avoid showcasing expensive designer accessories and luxury vehicles under the guise of farming income in some random area in Kilifi.

“Eng, Eric Muriithi Muuga, 32, is our incoming Water, Sanitation & Irrigation Minister. In national television, we saw their humble mbao home in the village. We saw his parents & siblings. We hope & pray that in less than two years, he will not be owning a 150m in Karen, build a 50m house in the village, wear designer watches (he is wearing none now) and drive big cars and tell us it is money from coconut farming in Kilifi!” Donalod remarked.

Life of a thief is transient

Drawing a disparity between Mugaa’s current lifestyle and the extravagant displays he warned against, Kipkorir highlighted the unrealistic nature of amassing significant wealth in a brief period, especially in comparison to Mugaa’s previous career as an engineer.

Further, Donald warned Muuga about the detrimental nature of a dishonest life reminding him of its short-lived nature and dire consequences.

“In eight years as an Engineer, he hadn’t done this. What magic will two years as a Minister do? We know the salary of a Minister. Let him not steal dams money. Life of a thief is transient and ends badly!” Donald noted.
