Kate has caused a stir on social media over the past year due to several unexplained health issues, including spending weeks in hospital and losing so much weight that fans called her “too thin.”
Earlier this month, she revealed her weight loss was due to the “stress and grief” of her stepfather’s death and her mother’s cancer diagnosis, while responding to internet trolls.
The actress hit out at some of her “asshole” followers, who told her to gain weight in the comments below an Instagram post.
After she shared a video clip of herself wearing a crop top and bikini bottoms, one follower wondered where her “butt” had gone and encouraged Kate to “do some squats.”
Another claimed her body had “shrunk,” while another insisted she “looked upset” in the video posted Monday night.
However, Kate hit back at the cruel comments, explaining that there were several reasons for her changed figure, including a six-week hospital stay.

In recent months, Kate has been caring for her mother and late stepfather, after flying them from the UK to Los Angeles to stay with her.
“Kate has been caring for her parents, who are both seriously ill, for most of the year,” a source exclusively revealed to DailyMail.com late last year. “She brought them to her home in LA and made caring for them her number one priority.”

The insider revealed that the actress – whose biological father Richard Beckinsale died of a heart attack in his sleep in 1979 at age 31 – has been feeling the emotional toll in recent months.
“She has been spotted crying in the hallways of UCLA Hospital several times this week,” the source added. “Her friends are very concerned that she has been under unrelenting pressure for months, barely sleeping or eating.
‘Kate seems very strong, but this has been incredibly hard and, having lost her father at such a young age, it has affected her deeply. Her friends are concerned for her own health.’
A second source explained that her mother Judy has chosen to keep her health struggles private, saying: “She’s extraordinary, you wouldn’t even know it when you look at her. She’s kept a very positive attitude through everything.”
Kate’s mother Judy married Roy 18 years after Kate’s father, Porridge star Richard Beckinsale, died.
Roy enjoyed his own successful career as a director, working on major British on-screen hits including Inspector Morse and Cracker. His most recent directing credit was on an episode of A Touch Of Frost in 2006.
