Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has urged Gen Zs to halt anti-government protests.
Speaking at PEFA church at Mwea Cathedral, Kirinyaga County, while attending the consecration and installation of Kirinyaga regional Bishop Samuel Karimi, DP Gachagua said the government has heard the youth’s demands.

Gachagua who referred to the Gen Zs as his sons and daughters assured them that the President William Ruto-led administration will implement their demands.
Gachagua acknowledged that it is right for Kenyans to protest and seek answers from the government over governance issues.

However, the second in command lamented that the Gen Z protests have been infiltrated by people with criminal intent, arguing that the youth should stop demonstrating to prevent the criminals that have been infiltrating their protests.
“Ata hii Gen Z sisi tunaheshimu nyinyi, ile mnasema tunasikiza, na mumeongea. Na mimi nakubaliana na presiding Bishop, tafadhali Gen Z, my children, my sons and daughters, we have heard you. You have spoken clearly, what you have spoken needs no comma or full stop, it is clear.
“Lakini sasa mkitoka, wakora wanahijack mambo yenu, wanapora mali ya watu. Please Gen Zs we want to urge you, don’t allow your protests to be hijacked by criminals, by people with criminal intent to steal property, destroy property,” Gachagua stated.
Gachagua on stopping criminals
DP Gachagua went ahead to argue that halting the anti-government protests will help stop criminals from hijacking Gen Zs’ movement that has good intentions.
He told the youth that they have expressed themselves enough, and that there is no need of them continuing with the protests now that the government has heard them.
“I think what you have said is now enough. You don’t need to say anything more. Rais amesikia, serikali imesikia, kila mtu amesikia, sasa wacha tuongoje action itaendelea so that we don’t get something that had good intentions get hijacked by bad people,” he said.
Gachagua’s sentiments come a day after President Ruto announced the first batch of his Cabinet, days after he dissolved his entire Cabinet.
In the first batch that comprised of eleven Cabinet Secretaries, six of them from the dissolved Cabinet were featured.
This has angered the Gen Zs, who have been criticizing the President on social media platforms for recycling the people who had been rejected through Cabinet dissolution.
Lands CS Alice Wahome is among those who were reappointed and went ahead to throw a party to celebrate her reappointment.
Kenyans have, however, vowed to continue protesting over what they claim as bad governance and the recycling of the Cabinet Secretaries.
