Florida man arrested, accused of making threats against Trump, Vance on social media

JUPITER, Florida — A Florida man accused of making threats on social media against former President Donald Trump, Sen. JD Vance and their families was arrested Friday, police said.

The Jupiter Police Department said in a press release that officers arrested Michael W. Wiseman on suspicion of making written death threats.

He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail, Jupiter Police Maj. Don Hennessy said.

Wiseman remained in custody Friday night, a jail official confirmed. The official said she had no information on whether Wiseman had an attorney to comment on his behalf.

Detectives said Wiseman made multiple written threats on Facebook against Trump and Vance, who this week became the Republican presidential and vice presidential nominees, respectively. Threats were also made “relating to bodily harm” against members of the Trump and Vance families, police said.

Several people have notified local police about the messages in person and online, police said.

Jupiter is located about 20 miles (32 kilometers) north of Trump’s home at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach.

The investigation was conducted in conjunction with the U.S. Secret Service and the Palm Beach County District Attorney’s Office, police said.
