It is with profound sadness that I received the news of the passing of Umar Hassan Birnin Kudu, a dedicated and passionate colleague who left an indelible mark on the development sector. READ MORE HERE

As a tireless champion of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and a strong advocate for good governance in Jigawa State, he consistently demonstrated remarkable energy, commitment, and a deep understanding of the complexities of our localities.

His initiatives, particularly those focused on empowering young people through training in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and essential 21st-century skills, have had a lasting impact on the lives of countless individuals. These efforts not only equipped young people with the skills necessary to thrive in today’s fast-paced, technology-driven world but also instilled in them a sense of purpose and responsibility to contribute to the development of their communities.

Just recently, on April 9th, 2025, I had the privilege of engaging in a detailed discussion with him regarding the establishment of the Youths Action Movement (YAM) Network. This initiative, aimed at enhancing and sustaining the youth-focused efforts of the Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria – PPFN(PPFN) project, is a testament to his unwavering commitment to empowering young people and promoting sustainable development.

As we mourn the loss of this remarkable individual, my heartfelt condolences go out to his family, colleagues, and fellow advocates for the SDGs. May his legacy serve as a source of inspiration to us all, and may his contributions to the development sector continue to bear fruit in the years to come.
