The commotion, in videos seen by Viral Tea, sent a body language message of unease amongst delegates before their senseless act of rampage caused chaos, sending those in attendance scampering out of the venue.

The youths were captured flipping chairs upside down and ordering everyone out, including journalists deployed to cover the Azimio presser, on a period when the media has come been under attack by state agencies through the use of excessive force by police during protests and abductions as was witnessed on Wednesday morning.

Even one of the camera people who filmed the proceedings was forced to flee for his life, with the aura that the youth were posing a threat.

As the chaos went on, Azimio TV, which usually streams live events and press briefings of the opposition coalition, cut its live feed, leaving its online audience perplexed.

It was not yet clear who deployed the rowdy youth to the event nor why they stormed the presser, though some political leaders accused former President Uhuru Kenyatta of using Kalonzo and other Azimio-allied politicians to prevent coalition leader, Raila Odinga and President William Ruto from forming a relationship of some sort.

“Uhuru is using Kalonzo and Kioni, plus the other idlers, to keep Raila and Ruto hostile to each other. As ODM, we will not allow the enmity that is convenient for Uhuru and his henchmen. We will go for national stability and harmony whether it pleases Kalonzo and Uhuru or not,” Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly (MCA) Robert Alai wrote on his X account.

Raila meanwhile on Wednesday accused the media of manufacturing rumours of supporting President William Ruto’s call for a multi-sectoral forum as the solution to the recent unrest in Kenya.

“ODM never said that it was going into bed with Ruto. We never said it. It is a creation of the media,” Raila clarified during an address to delegates during the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.
