Wednesday blackout to affect Nairobi, 8 other counties

Kenya Power has on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, issued a notice informing customers of a planned power blackout that will affect nine counties today.

In a statement, the utility company said the outage would affect parts of Nairobi, Makueni, Bomet, Murang’a, Kiambu, Kisumu, Nyamira, Mombasa and Kilifi counties.

In Nairobi, the blackout is scheduled from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm and will affect areas in Ngong Road including China Centre, Coptic Hospital, Baptist Church, Kindaruma Road, Royal Golf Club, Muchai Drive, Rose Avenue, George Padmore Road, Parts of Argwings Kodhek Road and adjacent customers.

The outage will affect parts of Jogoo Road including; Buruburu Phase 5, Magunas Supermarket, Uhuru Market, Makadara Law Court and adjacent customers and Dandora, part of Lucky Summer, Tiba Primary School, Ngunyumu Primary School, Ngomongo, Dandora Phase 2, 3 and 4, Dump Site, Co-op Bank, Uprising and adjacent customers.

The power blackout in Makueni will affect areas in Kathozweni including; Huduma Centre, Malivani Prisons, Unoa Market, Mumbuni, Kitikyumu, Sender Market, Kyemole, Malivani, Kwa Kathoka, Nyunzu Market, Ngunu, Kathonzweni Market and adjacent customers from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.

Similarly in Bomet, the blackout is expected to start from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm in part of Kapkwen and  Makimeny. Areas affected include Meja, Kings Outreach, Bomet Police Station, Siloam Hospital, Kapkwen Market, Kiriba, Makimeny, Saunet, Kibereisit, Kipkuror, Mathew Maritim, Tarakwa, Sahara, Sachangwan, Kipsiwon, Kapsio, Kagawet, Solyot, Chororoita, Muiywek, Leldaet and adjacent customers.

In Muranga’a the  9.00 am to 5.00 pm power outage will affect areas of Ithanga and Kasoono market including Ithanga Junction, Ngelelya Market, Muti Market, Matunda Dispensary, Kinyangi
Village, Nginye Dam, Bishop Gitonga Spur, Milaani Market and adjacent customers.

The power outage scheduled from  9.00 am to 5.00 pm in Kiambu will affect areas in Munyu, Kamuthi, Bakex and Ananas Mall including Parts of Makongeni, Makongeni Rubis, Munyu Center, Fara Inya, Komo, Maraba Market, Kwa Simon, St Paul Secondary School, Kwa Simon, Gichigi Village Spur, Maganjo S/Centre, Ngiriki S/Centre, AIC Church Munyu, Kimuchu Village, Maraba Market, Kimuchu AP Camp, Nyasaba Market, Vasity Academy, Buffalo Estate and adjacent customers.

In Kisumu county areas affected include parts of Agakhan Hospital, Okore, Usaid, Kiwasco, Tom Mboya, Robert Ouko Estate, Golden Elites, Kibuye, Ondieki, Polyview, Russia Hospital, Avenue Hospital, Star Hospital, Lumumba Hospital and adjacent customers from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.

In Nyamira, the 9.00 am to 4.30 pm power blackout will affect areas in Gesima and Nyataro including Matunwa Tea Factory, Enchoro Royal Media, Gesima, Mosobeti, Motagara, Nyataro, Omwoyo and adjacent customers.

In Mombasa, the outage will affect Bonje Shell, Kilimanjaro Biscuits, Mazeras Water, Alpha Logistics and adjacent customers from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.

The power outage in Kilifi will affect parts of Kwa Mwalimu Omar, Aljazeera Estate, Milly Fruits, Milly Sweets 1, Brilliant EPZ, Coast Apparel, Mombasa Apparel, Coastal Bottlers Pwani Oil, Majengo Mapya, Mvita Oils, Bokoboko, Sumak Engineering, Khosla Farm, North Coast College, Bomani Dispensary, Jungu Secondary School, Mwembe Tsungu and adjacent customers.
