England are looking for a new manager, someone who wants to continue the successful course of the Three Lions under their former manager Gareth Southgate.

Sunday’s showpiece was the second major tournament final in four attempts under Southgate. The England men’s national team had not had such an opportunity for 55 years before he took charge in November 2016.

But England’s 2-1 defeat to Spain made them the first country to lose two consecutive European Championship finals, and Southgate decided to resign after the defeat.

In a heartfelt statement, Southgate expressed his pride in leading the country, reflected on his many years as a player and manager and thanked the England fans for their support.

With the above in mind, Mail Sport decided to take a closer look at Southgate’s eight-year tenure and analyse how the England men’s team fared under his leadership.
