The incident reportedly took place at 14th Street near DD Plaza in Eastleigh.
CCTV footage that surfaced on Sunday, November 10 showed the last moments before a man was executed by an unknown assailant at Eastleigh in Nairobi, raising concerns regarding the spike in insecurity cases in the area.
The incident reportedly took place at 14th Street near DD Plaza in Eastleigh. The 30-second footage seen by Viral Tea captured the deceased, identified as Abdirahim Abdullahi, conversing with a woman who sells tea in the area as an unidentified man emerged from nowhere.
The assailant, dressed in a dark blue overall, was seen casually walking up to the duo and as he got closer, he was seen pulling out a firearm and engaging Abdirahim in seemingly very short conversation, while the gun was pointed at him.
In cold-blooded fashion, the assailant then opened fire on Abdirahim at point-blank range and bent over, taking his phone and walking off. The horrific saga unfolded in front of the woman who quickly retreated into a nearby building following the attack.

Viral Tea has learnt that the woman the deceased was conversing with was his girlfriend. According to his family, who has since called for justice for their kin, Abdirahim was shot just below the ear, with the bullet exiting on the other side of the head.Â
Additionally, Abdirahim had been seeing the lady who works in one of the restaurants in Eastleigh as a waitress, and the two had decided to meet on Saturday night when the incident happened.
Eyewitnesses lamented the slow response in terms of immediate medical attention to Abdirahim, arguing that his life could have been saved. They stated that no one acted quickly to transport him to the hospital, leading to significant blood loss that ultimately resulted in his death.
Officers from California Police Station arrived at the scene shortly after the incident, collecting Abdirahim’s body and have since launched an investigation into the incident.
The case has since been transferred to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) at Shauri Moyo Police Station. As part of the ongoing investigation, the woman who had been with Abdirahim was summoned to the police station, where she recorded a statement.
Police suggested that the brazen act might have been motivated by jealousy or a possible setup involving Abdirahim’s relationship with the woman, though no conclusions have so far been reached. “We think it was caused by love. Someone else might have been jealous, or the lady might have framed him, but it’s not conclusive. We are still investigating,” a senior police officer disclosed.
Abdirahim has since been laid to rest at the Lang’ata Cemetery in Nairobi as his family calls for quick action from the police. Police hope to use the CCTV footage to nail the assailant, coming at a time Eastleigh residents have cried foul over an increase in violent crimes.
Last week, CCTV footage captured events surrounding a shocking assault inside a home in Eastleigh after a house help, a Ugandan national, aided an armed individual in gaining access and brutally attacking a 20-year-old woman who was of Somali descent.
The DCI said investigations revealed that the househelp actively facilitated the entry and might have assisted in the assault and subsequent robbery. During the violent encounter, several valuable items were stolen, including gold jewellery, an undisclosed amount of cash in both Kenyan shillings and U.S. dollars and four laptops belonging to the household.
The woman sustained severe injuries, including a broken tooth, head trauma, and injuries to her hands and legs. She also bore whipping marks across her back.
This came during a manhunt for the prime suspect believed to be behind the gruesome murders of the three Eastleigh women; a mother, daughter and 13-year-old niece; who were killed on October 23, 2024.
The suspect, Hashim Dagane Muhumed, 24, also linked to a case where bones believed to belong to a female victim which were discovered at the entrance of Lang’ata Cemetery in Nairobi on October 31, 2024, is currently in police custody.
