Harry Kane breaks his silence on England’s Euro 2024 agony as he admits he is ‘heartbroken’ and that the Three Lions ‘fell short of our target’ in social media message to fans

Harry Kane admitted in a lengthy social media post that he is “heartbroken” over England’s Euro 2024 woes after the Three Lions captain broke his silence.

Gareth Southgate’s team lost their second consecutive European Championship final on Sunday, with Spain losing 2-1, extending the team’s 60-year drought.

Kane was substituted after an hour after a tournament in which he was criticised for a number of ineffective performances and looked dejected at the final whistle.

But in an 84-word message on Instagram addressed to his supporters, the captain vowed to keep fighting and expressed his pride in his team’s achievements over the past month.

“With broken hearts we could not achieve what we worked so hard for,” he wrote.

“It was a long and tough tournament and I am so proud of the boys and the staff for reaching the final. In the end we did not achieve our goal and we have to live with that.

‘But as always we will pick ourselves up, shake off the dust and get ready to fight again in an England shirt.
