SWAT team responding to Arkansas shopping mall, police ask public to avoid the area

CONWAY, Ark. — A SWAT team from a central Arkansas police department responded to an incident at a shopping center on Saturday and people were asked to avoid the area.

Conway police said on Facebook that officers responded to the Lewis Crossing Shopping Center “for an incident that is currently active.” The message did not elaborate.

Some commenters on the post said they were locked in nearby stores.

Photos posted by a television station showed numerous police cars in the mall’s parking lot.

Conway is located about 33 miles north of Little Rock.
