This came more than a month after he went missing on September 13, 2024, following an alleged abduction in Nairobi by unknown individuals.

“Body of the missing Della Ward MCA Yussuf Hussein found. Family to issue press conference shortly. The Body of the Missing Della ward MCA, Wajir County has been brought to Wajir!” Bulle announced. “May his soul rest in eternal peace!”

In another post, Bulle dismissed rumours that the MCA’s death had not been confirmed, stating that the family recognized the body.

Revealing gruesome details, he mentioned that the abductors chopped off the legislator’s nose and ears. He also mentioned that Ahmed’s eyes were gouged out and his face burnt to prevent the family from recognizing him.

“Ignore the rumours going around that the death of our brother, the Della Ward MCA, is unconfirmed. They have chopped off his nose and ears, gouged out his eyes, and burnt his face to hide recognition! But he had a missing finger before, and that’s how the family recognized him,” Bulle wrote in another post.

Witnesses said the body bore signs of severe torture, ruthless beating, and extensive burns. It is not clear who was behind the abduction and murder of the MCA. Locals thronged a local morgue to identify the body that was badly tortured and decomposed.

Police were yet to comment on the developments. During the incident, the MCA was reported to have been abducted by unknown assailants on Enterprise Road in Makadara Constituency, at 9 pm using a Landcruiser Prado and for more than a month, his whereabouts remained a mystery.

Eldas Constituency Member of Parliament Adan Keynan had revealed that as leaders together with the family of the missing MCA, they tried every effort to locate Ahmed with initial claims that he had been found at Uriri Hospital in Migori County, a claim that could not be verified at the time.

Keynan termed the abduction as a breach of the law, urging those holding the MCA to release him or issue a statement regarding his detention.

“His whereabouts remain shrouded in mystery, with his continued incommunicado detention by his kidnappers constituting a flagrant breach of the fundamental principles that form the bedrock of our democratic nation,” Keynan shared in a statement.

“If there exist any legitimate grounds for the detention of Hon. Yussuf Hussein, the only acceptable course of action is to immediately present him before a court of law, where the due process of justice can be carried out transparently and equitably. The judiciary is the cornerstone of our democracy, designed to protect the rights of all citizens and to adjudicate disputes in a manner that upholds the sanctity of the law.”

The High Court had ordered the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to give protection to the key witness in a case filed on the abduction of the MCA pending a formal application for witness protection.

Justice Alexander Muteti also directed the agencies to provide an updated report of the status of the investigations on October 7. The court was told by senior superintendent of police Justus Imaana that they were yet to obtain CCTV footage from the lawmaker’s pickup point to the point he was abducted on September 13.

Incidents of forced abductions have in the last few months been on the rise following the anti-government protests that were witnessed in Nairobi, with many Kenyans reportedly abducted from their homes and on the streets. However, security agencies have been giving mixed, many times unconvincing responses concerning the disappearances.
