Kenya Met issues weather forecast from Saturday to Wednesday

Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a weather forecast for the next five days starting from Saturday, July 13, 2024, to Wednesday, July 17, 2024.

According to the general outlook, intermittent cool and cloudy conditions are expected over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands and the Rift Valley.

The weatherman further noted that rainfall is expected over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley and North-western Kenya.

Highlands East of Rift Valley

Areas in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka and Nairobi Counties.

In the advisory, all the areas are expected to experience cloudy and sunny intervals throughout the day on Saturday, July 13, 2024.

On Sunday, July 14, 2024, some areas are expected to receive light showers but the weather will remain generally cloudy.

On Monday, there are chances that the areas will receive rainfall in the afternoon and late in the evening, Kenya Met explained. The same trend is expected on Tuesday, July 16 and Wednesday, July 17, 2024.

During the five days, the temperatures will hit a maximum of 29 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 6 degrees Celsius.

Highlands West of Rift Valley

Siaya,Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii,Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo,Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet,Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga,Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot Counties are in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley.

According to the notice from the weatherman, the areas are expected to receive sunny intervals and rain later during the afternoon for the five days.

The downpour which is forecasted to pound in the afternoon will be accompanied by thunderstorms.

Temperatures in the listed areas will hit a maximum of 30 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 7 degrees Celcius.

In the Coastal areas of Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale, rainfall is expected on Saturday, July 13, 2024 and Monday, July 15, 2024.

The rest of the days will experience sunny intervals and will remain partly cloudy.

North-eastern counties of Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo will be characterised by sunny intervals and cloudy weather for the five days.

A similar weather pattern is expected in the South-eastern lowlands (Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta Counties).
