Deputy IG Noor Gabow redeployed in latest changes

Deputy Inspector General Administration Police Service Noor Gabow has been redeployed within the Public Service.

The latest was confirmed in changes announced by President William Ruto on Friday, July 12, 2024.

Gabow will be replaced by James Kamau who will serve as the acting IG.

“In accordance with Section 17 of the National Police Service Act, His Excellency the President has caused the deployment of Noor Gabow, CBS within the Public Service,” Ruto’s statement shared bu State House Spokesman Hussein Mohamed reads in parts.

In the same changes, Ruto designated Douglas Kanja, the deputy police IG, as the acting IG following the resignation of IG Japhet Koome.

The president stated that IG Koome had stepped down from the position.

“His Excellency Hon William Samoei Ruto, PhD, CGH, President and Commander in Chief of the Defence Forces, has on this 12th day of July, 2024, accepted the resignation of Eng. Japheth N. Koome, MGH, as the Inspector General of the National Police Service,” President Ruto announced.

“Pending the nomination, parliamentary approval and appointment of the Inspector General of the National Police Service, the Head of State has, in accordance with Section 16 of the National Police Service Act, designated Mr. Douglas Kanja, CBS the Deputy-Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service as the acting Inspector-General of the National Police Service.”

The president also announced the appointment of Eliud Langat as the Acting Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service.
