A kitchen fire has broken out at a popular Jewish deli in North Bondi, which NSW Police are treating as suspicious after detectives spotted a jerry can from the scene.
Emergency services were called to Curlewis Street, North Bondi, after reports of a fire at Lewis’s Continental Deli after 4am on Sunday morning.
“Officers from the Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command attended and located a business on the ground floor of the building in good condition,” a police statement read.
The police are looking for people who were in the area at the time or who have more information

Footage from the scene shows plainclothes detectives wearing face masks and taking a canister from the deli that serves kosher food.
Police will hold a press conference on Sunday afternoon and appeal for information after a suspicious fire. Anyone who may have been in the area at the time or has information or footage is asked to contact Eastern Suburbs Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. .
The fire comes several months after a fire broke out in the unit above the deli, which went up in flames after the battery of an e-bike spontaneously caught fire while four tenants were sleeping.
