Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Private, Derrick Giyani Maluleke, is another SANDF soldier who was killed in DR Congo.

Another man from Limpopo is among the nine soldiers who were killed in a fierce battle with the M23 rebels in Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The devastating report of Maluleke’s death follows the sad news of another Limpopo soldier, Louis Calvin Moagi ( 28 ) from Ga – Sekororo who was also killed in the DRC.

SANDF spokesperson Siphiwe Dlamini paid tribute to the fallen soldiers, describing their resistance as nothing short of heroic.

“The M23 hostile forces had launched a full-scale attack on our troops with the intention of taking over Goma but were unable to advance due to the heroic resistance put up by our gallant fighters. Our forces were not only able to halt the M23 advancement but were able to push them back,” Dlamini said

In total, nine South African troops were murdered with the identities of the other seven yet to be released to the public.
