Bangkok police arrested a Japanese national involved in a transnational crime syndicate. The 30 year old suspect had overstayed his visa and allegedly threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend.
The investigation began when a Thai woman filed a police report accusing her ex-boyfriend, Ichiro, of assault and unlawful detention. Police learned that Ichiro frequently sent threatening messages, including photos of firearms and videos taken near the victim’s residence, indicating that she was being stalked.
Ichiro was seen near the victim’s home, appearing intoxicated and aggressive, sending videos and threatening messages from late at night until early in the morning. The police provided protection for the victim and closely monitored the situation.
Ichiro’s vehicle was found on Charoen Krung Road in Bang Kho Laem, Bangkok. Police searched the vehicle and arrested him according to the arrest warrant. He was charged with overstaying his visa.
Coordination with Japanese officials confirmed that Ichiro was a member of a notorious crime organisation in Japan. He, along with four others, had allegedly been involved in kidnapping, assault, and unlawful detention in Tokyo, reported The Pattaya News.
After fleeing to Thailand, Ichiro continued his violent activities until his arrest. He was handed over to investigative officers from the Thai Immigration Bureau for further legal proceedings and eventual deportation and blacklisting from Thailand.
In related news, Thai Immigration apprehended a Japanese national in Bangkok’s Khlong Toei district after receiving a tip-off about his illegal stay. The 43 year old man was found to have overstayed his visa.
Further investigations revealed the Japanese man, Miyoshi’s alarming criminal history. Allegedly involved in 111 theft cases across five areas in Japan last year, he caused damages amounting to approximately 3 million baht. Police suspect that he led a notorious theft gang and a motorbike gang in Japan.
The Royal Thai Immigration Bureau worked in coordination with the Japanese Embassy to verify Miyoshi’s identity and criminal record. Following his arrest at a condominium in Pawet, he is now awaiting deportation.
