Banglamung police apprehended a suspected drug dealer yesterday, confiscating 3 kilograms of methamphetamine and a firearm. The operation, led by Superintendent Police Colonel Navin Sinthurat, involved Chon Buri administrative officials and anti-drug officers.
Police conducted a sting operation targeting Saran Mankit, also known as Mike, a 34 year old resident of Kamphaeng Phet province. The arrest took place at Saran’s rental room in the Bueng sub-district, Sri Racha district, Chon Buri province. Officers seized 3 kilograms of methamphetamine and a homemade 9mm gun with six bullets during the arrest.
Pol. Col. Navin stated that undercover officers arranged to buy 1 gram of meth for 500 baht (US$ 14) from the suspect. Once Saran handed over the drug to an undercover officer, other officers moved in to arrest him and conducted a search of his residence.
“The suspect confessed to the charges,” Pol. Col. Navin reported. According to police, Saran admitted he was hired by an unidentified individual to store and sell the drugs, typically earning between 4,000 baht and 5,000 baht (US$ 110 and 140) per delivery.
Saran claimed he resorted to drug dealing to support his mother, who recently suffered a stroke, and his 3-month-old child. This was not Saran’s first encounter with the law; he was previously arrested in 2012 with 55 grams of meth and released from prison three years ago, reported The Pattaya News.
Banglamung police have confirmed that Saran is currently in custody.
In related news, police apprehended a man after he attempted to flee during a routine check, discovering 200 methamphetamine pills in his possession. The arrest took place outside a supermarket on Chaeng Watthana Road in Bangkok.
The incident began when officers from Bang Khen Police Station, including Anant Warasat, Sanpich Sirisoonthorn, and Adul Phothakan, received a report of a group of teenagers fighting. Arriving at the scene around 2.30am, they found no evidence of the altercation but noticed a man sitting alone and acting suspiciously. When officers approached to question him, he suddenly bolted, prompting a chase.
