Nuru Okanga undresses in public to celebrate Gachagua’s impeachment

Raila Odinga’s fierce supporter Nuru Okanga has expressed his utmost pleasure and joy in Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment.

Okanga could not contain his joy as he excitedly undressed to express his satisfaction with the Senate’s decision to impeach Gachagua.

He explained that he was excited that the DP was being ousted because of his previous shareholding remarks which he says were totally uncalled for.

Mimi nilisema lazima wakenya wajue Gachagua ameenda nyumbani. Niko na furaha kwa sababu tumepeleka mtu ambaye alisema Kenya ni kampuni Mathira,” he said.

Gachagua impeached

Gachagua was impeached after the Senate found him guilty of five out of 11 counts against him on Thursday, October 17, 2024.

With the ouster, Gachagua has made history as the first deputy president to be impeached since the implementation of the 2010 Constitution.

The voting occurred even as he was in hospital ailing from severe chest pains.

Kibwezi West Member of Parliament (MP) Mwengi Mutuse introduced the impeachment motion in the National Assembly last week.

281 MPs supported it, while 44 opposed the motion to impeach the DP who has only been in office for 766 days since he took office on September 13, 2022.

Gachagua’s successor

Following Gachagua’s impeachment at the Senate, President William Ruto, hurriedly nominated Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kithure Kindiki.

So far, Kindiki has been cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for the role. He has also been cleared by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Credit Reference Bureau (CRB), Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).

Should he be approved by parliament, Kindiki will become Kenya’s third DP under the 2010 Constitution.
