Pursuant to the provision of sections 13 and 14 of the Urban Areas and Cities Act 2011,(Revised Edition of 2019) Taita Taveta County Executive Committee invites applications from qualified persons for the position of seven(7) members to the Mwatate Municipal Board. Three of the members will be selected competitively while four will represent the under listed associations/organisations. Furthermore,
the following associations /Institutions are requested to nominate members to the board.
a) Umbrella body representing the professional associations
b) Private sector associations in the area
c) A cluster of registered association of informal sectors
d) A cluster of registered neighbourhood associations
FUNCTIONS OF THE BOARD
- Oversee the affairs of the city or municipality;
- Develop and adopt policies, plans, strategies and programmes, and may set targets for delivery of services;
- Formulate and implement an integrated development plan;
- Control land use, land sub-division, land development and zoning by public and private sectors for any purpose, including industry, commerce, markets, shopping and other employment centres, residential areas, recreational areas, parks, entertainment, passenger transport, agriculture, and freight and transit stations within the framework of the spatial and master plans for the city or municipality as may be delegated by the county government;
- As may be delegated by the county government promote and undertake infrastructural development and services within the city or municipality;
