Patong Police are actively searching for a Thai man who attacked an Indian tourist with a knife, resulting in a head wound. The incident occurred late Sunday night, July 7, when the Thai man blew cigarette smoke into the Indian tourist’s face, Patong Police were alerted around 11.10pm.

Upon arrival, officers found 37 year old Aneesh Kumar Nikathithara Purushan, with a minor knife wound on his scalp. Aneesh, accompanied by his wife and a friend, had just returned from an outing. While the friend reached their fourth-floor room and waited without closing the door, Aneesh and his wife were still on their way up.

As Aneesh approached the room, he noticed an unidentified man walking down the hallway, smoking. The situation escalated when the man, passing the Indian tourist, blew cigarette smoke in his face. Unable to respond verbally due to language barriers, Aneesh gave him a stern look instead.

Moments later, the man turned around, kicked Aneesh in the face, and drew a 15-centimetre-long knife.

Aneesh managed to fend off the knife with his hands but the blade grazed his scalp. The assailant then fled the scene, escaping through the back of the hotel. Aneesh’s friend promptly informed the hotel staff, who contacted the police.

Rescue workers provided first aid to Aneesh before he proceeded to Patong Police Station to file a formal report. The police are now intensifying efforts to locate the attacker, reported Phuket News.
