German track star Alica Schmidt, dubbed ‘the world’s sexiest athlete,’ is brought to tears after discovering her 2024 Olympics fate

The ‘world’s sexiest athlete’ is officially on her way to Paris for the Olympic Games.

German track and field athlete Alica Schmidt, who previously went by this attractive nickname, posted a video on her TikTok account last weekend in which she was told that she had been selected for the German Olympic team.

In the video, Schmidt is visibly emotional on the phone, wiping tears from her eyes.

Schmidt also walks around while talking on the phone, trying to process the news as quickly as possible.

“When you get the call that you’ve been selected to the Olympic team,” Schmidt captioned the video with a tear-filled emoji.

Schmidt had already qualified for the Olympic Games in May. Her participation in the Games in Paris was only officially confirmed by the recent phone call from probably a higher-ranking German Olympic committee.

Schmidt, 25, was named the ‘world’s sexiest athlete’ by Australian magazine Busted Coverage in 2017. Since then, she has gone viral on social media multiple times, amassing more than seven million followers across Instagram and TikTok combined.

Schmidt also qualified for the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo, but did not compete in the global event.

The German has qualified for the 4×400 meter relay this year. When she officially steps onto the oval track, it will be her first time competing on the track’s biggest stage.

Schmidt commented on her upcoming Olympic debut on social media.

“My biggest dream has come true! In just one month I will be in Paris and making memories that will last a lifetime,” Schmidt said. “This thought has been my daily motivation for years, reminding me why it is important to never give up and work hard.”

“No matter how big your dreams are, if you stay committed and believe in yourself, good things will come your way,” Schmidt continues.
