Kenyan athlete and two-time Olympic 1500m champion Faith Kipyegon has broken her own 1500m world record following her victory in Paris, France.
The athlete won the Paris Diamond League on Sunday, July 7 with a time of 3:49.04, which is better than the 3:49.11 she set during a Diamond League meet in Florence, Italy, on June 2, 2023.
“Faith Kipyegon breaks her own 1500m world record to finish off the Paris Diamond League in historic style,” World Athletics announced, however noting that the victory is subject to the usual ratification procedures.
Kipyegon defeated Jessica Hull from Australia who came in second with a time of 3:50.83.
