“The ShuGenz Memorial concert to honour our heroes who died during the protests is on Sunday 7th July, from 12:00-7:00 pm. @SakajaJohnson has opened Uhuru Park and will provide county security. More details to follow. Tag a friend, an artist. Bring flowers,” he said.

“The County Government of Nairobi has permitted us to hold the concert, and we would like to ask the National Police Service to provide additional security. Most importantly the officers should be in full uniform, and identifiable. We don’t want masked officers, dressed like terrorists like the ones we saw shooting protestors, “ShuGenz concert permit letter reads.

“We shall have County Askaris and private guards but we are extending an invite to the National Police to redeem their image by sending humane officers to secure the venue too. The event will be a celebration of those who died, and there will be no politician who will be allowed to speak. I’m just clarifying that to assure you it’s not a political rally or a platform to desecrate the dead.”
