The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) is a non-profit institution working for better lives and a better planet through livestock. Working in extensive partnerships, ILRI undertakes livestock science that contributes to equitable and resilient livestock systems in order to deliver food systems transformation with climate and environmental benefits, targeting 300 million people.

ILRI hosts state-of-the-art research facilities and major campuses in Kenya and Ethiopia as well as 11 other research offices across Africa and Asia.

ILRI is a member of CGIAR, a global agriculture-research-for-development partnership conducting research in 15 centres around the world. The work of ILRI’s 600-plus staff from more than 40 countries is funded by grants from governments, philanthropic bodies and joint research programs. ILRI’s annual operational budget is about US$100 million.
